Palm Canyon; Palm Springs, California. I hiked the canyon and climbed the waterfalls. It was amazing.

Not long ago I went to Palm Springs for the day, and it was delightful as always. I am a huge fan and can’t wait to retire there when I’m old and sun-leathered. Ha!
After reaching the desert, there was a requisite stop at Elvis’s Honeymoon Hideway. Afterward we went to hang at the Ingleside Inn and found the remnants of a poolside champagne party, which made for some delightfully creepy photos. After dinner at Native Foods we stopped by to visit a weird bar/restaurant called Bananaz. I have never been inside but I love looking at the strange, all-underground-yet-above-ground retro building (you should probably click the link).
Sigh, I love you, Palm Springs.
How could I possibly have neglected to talk about how amazing my Christmas trip to Palm Springs was?! Not only was the weather great, the scenery beautiful, and my parents’ visit a blast, BUT the vintage shopping was to die for! Costume jewelry, specifically (aka my WEAKNESS). It makes sense, considering Palm Springs is where old and glamorous Los Angelenos go to die…not to be a downer or anything. Uh.
I scored everything in the above photo for just under $60. Sure, it’s not Salvation Army prices but if definitely beats vintage boutiques in metro Los Angeles or New York! Here’s what I got (clockwise from upper lefthand corner): thick rhinstone bracelet, twisted double strange rhinestone bracelet, peruvian leather rose bracelet, 2 rhinstone chokers (one with aurora borealis stones), star charm bracelet, rough coral bracelet, amber and rhinstone bracelet, and my favorite - Tortolani desert scene bracelet. Evidently this brand was favorite of the Rat Pack in the 50s and 60s. The bracelet isn’t in the most amazing condition but I LOVE IT. It has tiny gold cacti and little turquoise (bakelite or resin? stones). Fantastic!
There are some Palm Springs pictures on my Flickr page (which desperately needs updating. Ah!)
